Man Arrested For Mischief After Pointing Laser At SPS Air Support Unit

The incident involving a laser took place shortly after 11:00 p.m. on May 3, 2020 (not 4th as previously indicated).

 

A Saskatoon man is facing charges after pointing a green laser at the SPS Air Support Unit last night.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m., May 4, 2020, the Air Support Unit reported that a laser was being pointed in their direction mid-flight. They were able to identify the residence in the 500 block of Avenue H South where the laser beam originated. Patrol units attended and arrested a man.

The 30-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with Mischief and Breach of Undertaking. (Court Info #: 991127583)

Pointing a laser at a plane is extremely dangerous and can cause serious injury. Thankfully, neither the SPS Pilot or Tactical Flight Officer were injured during the course of this incident.
