A 42-year-old man is facing charges after Patrol observed him in possession of a stolen vehicle on Friday night.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., May 1, 2020, Patrol located a Jeep Compass at Idylwyld Drive and Stanley Place. The vehicle had been reported stolen an hour earlier. Patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. The SPS Air Support Unit took over primary observation as the vehicle continued to travel at high speeds toward Blaine Lake, SK. Stop sticks were successfully deployed south of Blaine Lake, and the driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, fled into the bush where he was taken into custody without further incident by members of the RCMP.
The 42-year-old man is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000, Evade Police, Fail to Stop, Dangerous Driving and Breach of Conditions. (Court Info # 991127470).
