Three people are facing drug trafficking charges after refusing to stop for Police this morning.
At approximately 2:40 a.m., on May 11, 2020, Patrol officers observed a suspicious grey 2006 Mazda-3. A traffic stop was attempted at 33rd Street East and 1st Avenue North, but the driver refused to stop, and evaded Police. The car became stuck on railroad tracks in the 1800 block of 1st Avenue North, and collided with a fence. Three people were observed exiting the car and fleeing on foot. The driver and a female passenger were quickly arrested nearby. The third suspect was located by the Air Support Unit, attempting to hide in a nearby yard. He was taken into custody without incident.
Inside the car, officers located a cattle prod, a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, a handgun, an imitation firearm and over 450 rounds of ammunition. Also located was hydromorphone, fentanyl, methamphetamine, crack cocaine and Xanax.
The driver, a 57 year old Balcarres, SK man is charged with Evade Police and Dangerous Driving. He, along with a 31 year old woman and a 38 year old man, both from Regina, SK, are charged with numerous firearm-related offences, Possession of Hydromorphone/Cocaine, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine/Fentanyl/Xanax and Breach of Probation.
