At approximately 6:00 p.m. this evening a 29 year old male was observed by patrol officers throwing large stones at vehicles (including a patrol car) at the corner of Idylwyld Drive and 25th Street. When officers stopped to talk to the male he brandished a knife. Officers attempted to talk to the male to drop the knife however, they were unsuccessful and had to deploy their Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW). The male dropped the knife and was taken into custody.

The male was transported to hospital as a precaution. Once he is medically cleared, he will be facing possible weapons related charges.

The incident will be reviewed in accordance with SPS policy.
