Saskatoon Police arrested a man last night following a complaint from a transit operator.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., June 1, 2020, members of the Bike Unit were made aware by a transit driver in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue North, that a male had become violent on a bus. Police learned that the male suspect was acting aggressively and had attempted to strike the driver before fleeing on foot. The suspect was located near 24th Street East and Ontario Avenue. He refused to provide his name and comply with Police. When officers attempted to arrest the suspect, he fled on foot. A Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) was deployed but was unsuccessful in disabling the suspect. A member of the Canine Unit located the suspect attempting to hide in a recycling bin in the 100 block of Idylwyld Drive North. He was taken into custody without further incident. No one was injured.
A 21 year old Saskatoon man is charged with Obstruction and Breach of Probation.
The incident will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
