Man Arrested For Mischief After Pointing Laser At SPS Air Support Unit

A man is facing charges after pointing a laser at the SPS Air Support Unit early this morning.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., June 12, 2020, members of the SPS Air Support Unit reported two green laser strikes. They were able to identify the person responsible and observed them enter a residence in the 10 block of Barr Place. Patrol members attended and arrested a man who was in possession of a green laser.

The 40-year-old man has been charged with Mischief.

Police wish to remind the public of that pointing a laser at a plane is extremely dangerous and can cause serious injury. Thankfully, neither the SPS Pilot or Tactical Flight Officer were injured during the course of this incident.
