Two Saskatoon teens are facing charges after refusing to stop for Police this morning.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., June 17, 2020, Saskatoon Police received reports of a possible impaired driver on the Senator Sid Buckwold Bridge. Members with the Air Support Unit (ASU) observed the suspect vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado found to be stolen, and guided ground units to its location. A high-risk vehicle stop was attempted, but the driver refused to stop for Police. ASU members observed the truck being driven erratically. A tire deflation device was deployed, but the vehicle continued on. The driver stopped to allow two passengers to exit and flee near Avenue N S and 11th Street West. Ground units took the two individuals into custody nearby. One of the suspects was found concealing an imitation firearm. The suspect vehicle was then observed parking at Dudley Street and Avenue P South. The driver and passenger were quickly arrested. A machete and ammunition was located inside of the stolen truck.
The driver, a 17 year old male, is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Ammunition.
A 14 year old male is charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
The other two youth were released without charges.
