A 44 year old Saskatoon man is in custody following a report of a disturbance that resulted in Police deploying a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW).
At approximately 11:44p.m., on June 19th, 2020, the Saskatoon Police Service received a report of a disturbance at a home in the 1700blk of 11th St W. When officers arrived, they attempted to take into custody a male known to police who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for theft under $5000. This male became aggressive and at one point he grabbed hold of an officers duty belt. A CEW was deployed and he was taken into custody without further incident. Medavie Health Services attended and medically cleared this male to attend detention.
The man is now facing an additional charge of resist arrest and breach of probation. He will be seen by a Justice of the Peace this afternoon.
The incident will be reviewed in accordance with SPS policy.
