A 29 year old male and a 27 year old female, both from Saskatoon, are facing more than one hundred charges following an investigation by members of the Guns and Gangs Unit.
The investigation began following a response by Patrol Officers on April 9, 2020, to a report of a disturbance in the 2400 block of Arlington Avenue. A man was reported to be banging on the windows and doors of a home in the area. Upon arrival Police located the suspect male in a vehicle nearby and conducted a traffic stop. A search of the vehicle located three firearms - one of them loaded, as well as cocaine, methamphetamine and cash. Following the arrest the Guns and Gangs Unit conducted a search of a residence in the 1000 block Avenue H North. Inside the home they located a sawed off rifle, various rifle parts that had been broken down, and a money counter. An additional search was conducted at a storage unit in the 3900 block of Wanuskewin Road on April 12, 2020. Inside the unit investigators located five firearms along with various types of ammunition and modified firearm parts.
Investigators believe the weapons were acquired, modified and trafficked for use by members of street gangs in Saskatoon.
The 29 year old man is facing approximately 80 charges including Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine and Possession of the Proceeds of Crime.
The 27 year old woman is facing approximately 28 firearm related charges.
