A man is facing charges after attempting to flee from Police on a bicycle yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., June 22, 2020, members of the Guns & Gangs Unit observed an individual on a bike who was believed to be in possession of weapons in a back alley near Confederation Drive. When the man saw Police, he fled on the bicycle and nearly caused several collisions on Confederation Drive as he was in and out of traffic in his attempts to evade Police. He was observed abandoning a backpack before he was eventually taken into custody near Confederation Drive and 22nd Street West.
When Police seized the backpack, they located bear spray, a machete and methamphetamine.
The 23-year-old man is charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (x2), Carry Concealed (x2), Possession of Methamphetamine and Breach of Conditions.
