A man was arrested after deploying bear spray at police officers last week.
At approximately 5:45 a.m., June 26, 2020, Patrol officers had attended to the 400 block of Avenue X South to investigate reports of a gunshot. The officers attempted to speak to two males who were seen walking in the area when one male began to run from them. Also on foot, Police attempted to catch up to this male when he deployed bear spray toward them. Police were unable to locate him afterwards. One of the officers suffered from the effects of bear spray.
After further investigation, Police located the man at an apartment in the 500 block of Avenue X South on June 30, 2020. In an attempt to flee again, the suspect repelled from the third-floor balcony however a canine unit was successful in taking him into custody. He was transported to hospital for treatment of dog bites.
The 20-year-old man is charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer (x2), Possession of Dangerous Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Breach of Probation. (Court Info #'s 991132083 & 991132084).
