A 27 year old man is facing charges of assaulting a police officer, disarming a peace officer, mischief and possession of a controlled substance.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., July 4, 2020, Police responded to a complaint of a suspicious person in the 500 block of 11th Street E. Upon arrival, Police encountered a man that had caused damage to property. The officer attempted to take the man into custody however he resisted and attempted to disarm the officer. The officer deployed his OC spray but it was ineffective and he struggled to take the man into custody for several minutes prior to other officers arriving to assist. A conducted energy weapon was deployed, however was also ineffective. Police were eventually able to take the man into custody and he was transported to Detention.
