A 19 year old male and a 16 year old female are facing charges following the robbery of a taxi driver this morning.
At approximately 8:50 a.m., July 13, 2020, SPS dispatchers received a distress signal from the taxi at Avenue N South and Appleby Drive. The driver reported that a male and female passenger broke through the plexi glass partition in the taxi, before assaulting him, stealing items inside the vehicle and fleeing on foot. Patrol members including a Canine team searched for the suspects in the area. They received information from neighbours and other people nearby that helped in locating the male and female. They were found to be in possession of a number of stolen items. The girl was also in possession of a knife. The male taxi driver suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention.
Both are facing charges of Robbery. The girl is also facing charges of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, and Breach of Probation.
