A 47 year old male and a 45 year old female are in custody following their arrest through the efforts of the Air Support Unit (ASU) and Patrol.
On July 19, 2020 at approximately 2:45 a.m., a citizen called the Saskatoon Police to report that he had just seen a male and female take a jogger stroller from a yard in the 1100 block of Pringle Way. The description he gave, along with the direction of travel, allowed ASU to immediately locate these two suspects as it arrived overhead the neighbourhood a short time later.
ASU directed a ground unit to the location of the two, at which point the male fled on a stolen bicycle while the female was taken into custody. She was found to not only be in possession of the stroller, but also a bag of stolen tools. The male continued on the bicycle, eventually abandoning it and attempting to hide. However, ASU was still overhead and was able to direct other ground units to the male's location, resulting in him being taken into custody.
The investigation is continuing into the origin of the stolen property, but in the interim, the female was charged with possession of cocaine and had a number of Traffic Safety Act warrants. The male also had a number of Traffic Safety Act warrants, as well as seventeen Criminal Code warrants for offences ranging from Assault with a Weapon and Assault Causing Bodily Harm to Break and Enter and Carry a Concealed Weapon. Both suspects will be facing a Justice of the Peace.
