A 29 year old man is facing charges following an incident that resulted in Police deploying a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) this weekend.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., August 2, 2020, Police came upon a stolen vehicle at 20th Street and Avenue N that was known to be involved in a hit and run accident earlier in the day. When the vehicle fled from police the Air Support Unit (ASU) followed seeing it stop on the 800 block of Avenue O South. The male fled on foot from the stolen vehicle. When a lone police officer confronted him the suspect shone a bright flashlight into the officer’s eyes. The officer fearing that it was some type of weapon, deployed the CEW which was unsuccessful. The suspect continued to flee on foot while ASU directed officers to his location, and arrested him.
The male is facing charges of Theft of Motor vehicle, Dangerous Driving, Hit and Run, and Impaired Driving.
