One man is facing a charge related to drug trafficking after refusing to stop for Police yesterday morning.
At approximately 12:15 a.m., August 12, 2020, a Canine Unit observed a suspicious 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue in the 300 block of Haviland Crescent. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver refused to stop and began driving erratically. Air Support Unit members observed the car and guided Patrol officers to successfully deploy a tire deflation device. The suspect driver abandoned the vehicle in the 100 block of McCormack Road and fled, attempting to hide in a back yard. He was apprehended with the assistance of a Police Service Dog (PSD) and transported to hospital prior to being taken to Detention. He was found with Crystal Meth and cocaine on his person. Bear spray was located in the abandoned vehicle, along with a backpack containing items consistent with drug trafficking.
A 31 year old Saskatoon man is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Cocaine, Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, Driving While Prohibited, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of the Proceeds of Crime. He was also found to be breaching his probation order and was wanted on two outstanding warrants.
