A 39 year old Saskatoon man is facing a number of charges following an incident in which the driver of a vehicle evaded police overnight.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. August 17, 2020, patrol officers attempted a traffic stop of a grey Ford F150 at 20th Street and Avenue H South. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and began driving in an erratic manner, before leaving the road, striking a tree and coming to a stop at 31st Street and Avenue I North. The male driver and his male passenger both fled the scene on foot. Following a track by members of the Canine Unit, the driver was located inside a garage in the 700 block of 32nd Street West. He received treatment for minor injuries from a dog bite. The passenger was not located.
A search of the vehicle resulted in officers located a stolen package, a machete and a pellet gun.
The 39 year old man is now facing charges of dangerous driving, evade police, driving while prohibited, break and enter, possession of stolen property under $5000 and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace (x2).
