Five people were arrested earlier this week in relation to a firearms investigation by the SPS Guns & Gangs Unit.
At approximately 11:45 p.m., August 18, 2020, following an investigation by the SPS Guns & Gang Unit into a person in possession of firearms, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 100 block of Avenue N South with assistance from the Tactical Support and Canine Unit. Five persons were arrested from inside the residence, and police seized a sawed off rifle, a pellet/BB rifle, a bulletproof vest, and numerous rounds of ammunition for five different types of firearms.
A 26-year old woman and a 31-year-old man are charged with;
- Careless Storage of Firearm
- Possession of Dangerous Weapon
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of Weapon Obtained by Commission of Offence
The 31-year-old man faces additional charges of; Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order, Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Order (x5), and Breach of Court Conditions (x4).
A 56-year-old man was charged for Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
Two other females, ages 16 and 23, were arrested from the residence and found to be breaching court-imposed conditions.
