A man and woman are facing a number of drug and weapons-related charges following a traffic stop early this morning.
At approximately 2:40 a.m., August 26, 2020, Patrol officers observed a suspicious 2006 Nissan Altima near 8th Street East and Broadway Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted near Eastlake Avenue and 9th Street East. Upon speaking to the two individuals inside of the vehicle, the passenger attempted to ingest a substance believed to be crystal meth. After a brief altercation, officers were able to seize the crystal meth and take the passenger into custody. They were assessed on scene by Medavie Health Services and later, closely monitored in Detention by paramedics. The driver was also taken into custody without incident. They were found to have numerous outstanding warrants. Upon searching the vehicle, further crystal meth was located as well as an imitation firearm, bear spray, pepper spray, various knives including a machete and break and enter tools. Multiple pieces of ID not belonging to the suspects, were also located inside of the car.
A 37 year old Saskatoon man is charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (x7), Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Break and Enter Tools, Possession of Identity Documents Relating to Another Person (x5) and Breach of Release.
A 24 year old Saskatoon woman is charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (x5), Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Break and Enter Tools.
