A man is facing charges after breaking into an apartment early this morning.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., August 27, 2020, Patrol officers responded to an apartment building in the 1100 block of Avenue W North in regards to an unknown problem. As patrol officers were responding, SPS Communications received three additional and separate calls stating they heard a woman calling for help and that a man was seen entering a third floor suite from the balcony. Upon Police arrival, the male had fled but the SPS Air Support Unit was able to acquire his location and relay it to ground units. The ASU also observed the man discarding items as he ran. He was later apprehended while he attempted to hide under a camper in the backyard of a residence in the 1200 block of Avenue Y North. Police recovered a machete, and a backpack that contained a hatchet and a knife.
This incident is not random in nature, and the parties involved are believed to know each other.
A 42-year-old man is charged with Break and Enter and Assault, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (x3), Carry Concealed Weapon (x2), and Breach of Court Conditions (x2). (Court Info # 991137756)
