The Saskatoon Police Service, Major Crime Section have charged a 34 year old Saskatoon male with Second Degree Murder in connection with the September 10, 2020 death of 62 year old Vincent Machiskinic.
On September 10, 2020 at approximately 1:50 a.m. Police responded to the 200 block of Avenue W South for the report of an injured person. Emergency responders on arrival located the victim, identified as 62 year old, Vincent Machiskinic, suffering from a stab wound. He was was transported to hospital where he died of his injuries.
The accused was arrested yesterday by patrol officers shortly after responding to the 200 block of Avenue W South. Investigators believe this incident was not random and that the accused was known to the victim. The 34 year old male is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court this morning. Members of the Saskatoon Police, Major Crime Section are actively investigating an early morning death as a homicide.
At approximately 1:50 a.m., September 10, 2020, Saskatoon Police received a 911 call regarding an injured person in the 200 block of Avenue W South.
Patrol officers and Medavie Health Services responded to the 200 block locating an injured 62 year old male on the sidewalk who was suffering from a stab wound. The injured male was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Saskatoon Police, Major Crime and Forensic Identification Sections were called out and continued the investigation along with the assistance from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. An autopsy was completed this afternoon.
A 34 year old Saskatoon male has been arrested and is in police custody. No charges have been laid at this time. Major Crime continues to investigate.

On September 10, 2020, at approximately 1:50 a.m., Saskatoon Police Service patrol members attended with Medavie Health Services to a residence on the 200 block of Avenue W South regarding an injured male.
Members from the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Unit are actively investigating the incident.
