Firearm Discharged/ Ongoing Investigation

The Saskatoon Police Service has laid a number of drug-related charges after responding to a report of people damaging vehicles early Tuesday morning in the 200 block of Akhtar Bend.

After finding evidence of a discharged firearm, when Police officers entered the residence to check for any injured persons, they observed a significant amount of psilocybin. The officers secured the residence and obtained a search warrant which was executed Tuesday evening.

As a result of the search warrant, investigators seized substantial amounts of psilocybin and other materials related to the production of psilocybin including Rubbermaid containers and mason jars of psilocybin ‘spores’. Police also seized THC capsules, THC extracts packaged for distribution, hard cocaine, soft cocaine, suspected heroin, suspected MDMA, $480 cash, a mobile device, two digital scales, a lab top and a computer tower.

A 25-year-old man is charged with Production of Psilocybin, Possession of Cocaine, Heroin, LSD, and MDMA, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Psilocybin, Proceeds of Crime Under $5000 and Illicit Possession of Cannabis under the Cannabis Act. (Court Info #’s 991139692, 991139749)

Saskatoon Police are currently investigating after Patrol officers responded to a report of a person damaging vehicles in the 200 block of Akhtar Bend at approximately 1:50 a.m., September 15, 2020.

Further investigation by Patrol officers at the scene found that as two people were seen exiting an apartment, a firearm was discharged. Officers located shell cases on the ground and upon further investigation, found that the front door to an apartment was ajar. Police entered the suite to check to see if anyone was injured and in need of assistance, however nobody was inside. Police remain on scene investigating.
