A man is charged with evading police after fleeing from a traffic stop on Sunday morning.
At approximately 3:00 a.m., September 20, 2020, a member of the Canine Unit observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Avenue W and 29th Street. A traffic stop was initiated but the vehicle fled. The vehicle was later located abandoned by the SPS Air Support Unit in the 1800 block of Avenue E North. Further investigation by Patrol officers located the driver in a nearby residence and took him into custody. Officers found him to be in possession of a knife at the time of his arrest.
The 37-year-old man is charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon, Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, and Breach of Court Conditions. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
