A Saskatoon man is facing 20 charges after refusing to stop for Police last night.
At approximately 10:10 p.m., October 6, 2020, a Canine officer observed a stolen vehicle driving on Centennial Drive near Haviland Crescent. The driver of the 1998 Dodge Durango had been observed operating the vehicle in a dangerous and evasive manner, earlier in the night. A tire deflation device was successfully deployed in the 100 block of Confederation Drive but the driver refused to stop for Police. The driver continued traveling on damaged tires into an empty parking lot in the 200 block of Fairmont Drive. As the driver attempted to continue fleeing, the Canine officer safely obstructed the suspect vehicle utilizing the Patrol Car. The suspect fled the disabled vehicle and was apprehended a short distance away by the Police Service Dog (PSD). The 30-year-old male suspect was arrested and transported to hospital for treatment of the dog bite injury, before being transported back to SPS Detention.
In his possession, officers located a large sum of Canadian and American cash, some of which was found to be counterfeit. An imitation firearm, ammunition, various identity documents, methamphetamine, fentanyl and dilaudid pills were located inside the vehicle. Meth pipes, a scale, various sizes of empty bags and other drug trafficking-related evidence, was located inside.
A 30-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with four firearm-related offences, Possession of Methamphetamine/Fentanyl/Dilaudid for the Purpose of Trafficking, Theft of Auto, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000, Dangerous Driving and Driving While Prohibited. He is also charged with Possession of the Proceeds of Crime Under $5000, Possession of Counterfeit Currency (x2), Possession of Identity Documents Relating to Another Person (x7) and was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
