UPDATE: Collision With Semi Trucks - Circle Dr. & College Dr.

Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Traffic Section have determined the cause of a fatal semi truck collision on October 21, 2020 to be distracted driving.  

The investigation, which included an analysis of activity on a cell phone found inside the super-bee semi driven by the deceased 51 year old man, showed evidence of use at the time of the collision.  The man's family has been informed of the findings.  

The Saskatoon Police Service asks all motorists to put their cell phones away while driving and help ensure the safety of all those using the road.

The traffic restrictions at Circle Drive near College Drive have been lifted.

Police would like to thank the public for avoiding the area allowing the investigation to be conducted.

Members of the Saskatoon Police Service Traffic Unit remain on scene investigating the serious collision that occurred this morning on Circle Drive.

The collision involved three, super-bee semis. A driver of one of the semi-trucks, a 51-year-old man, was pronounced deceased on scene. One other driver was uninjured, and the third driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The northbound lanes of Circle Drive near the College Drive exit will remain closed as the Collision Analyst Unit investigates.

An update will be released when traffic restrictions are lifted.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., October 21, 2020, Saskatoon Police, along with other emergency crews, were called to a serious collision involving three semi truck and trailer units. It occurred on Circle Drive near the College Drive exit. That area of Circle Drive is currently closed as members from Patrol and the Traffic Unit are on scene and investigating. Detours are in place and an update will be provided as further information becomes available. Motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
