Citizens of Saskatoon and area will have an opportunity to safely dispose of old data storage hardware later this week to assist in minimizing opportunities for frauds.
The Saskatoon Police Service Economic Crime Unit, in partnership with the Electronics Recycling Association, is hosting an event where members of the community will be able to attend to Police Headquarters to safely destroy any old data storage hardware devices utilizing the ERA’s special shredding machine free of charge. These machines are capable of shredding hard drives, data tapes, servers and other data storage hardware. The event will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2020, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the SPS gymnasium.
Those wishing to take advantage of this opportunity are encouraged to utilize the west gymnasium entrance (off of the visitor parking lot). People will also be asked to wear a mask, abide by physical distancing guidelines, and provide contact information for COVID-19 contact tracing purposes.
