A 23 year old man is facing several charges following an incident where the driver of a stolen vehicle evaded police.
At approximately 2:00 a.m., October 29, 2020, patrol officers observed the stolen Hyundai Elantra on 33rd Street West and Avenue P North. A traffic stop was attempted, but the suspect driver fled at a high rate of speed. Police successfully deployed tire deflation devices twice, but the driver continued traveling on damaged tires. Officers located the suspect vehicle abandoned at 22nd Street West and Witney Avenue. A Canine track led Police to a back yard in the 300 block of Montreal Avenue South. There, Police located the suspect male attempting to hide in a garden shed. He was taken into custody with the assistance of the Police Service Dog. He suffered a dog bite and was treated in hospital for a minor injury.
The man is facing charges including Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Possession of Break and Enter Tools, Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property and Breach of Undertaking.
