At the end of September of 2020 the Saskatoon Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit, along with the assistance of the Canada Border Services Agency, began an investigation into the unlawful importation of a prohibited device into Canada.

On October 29, 2020 the Saskatoon Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit executed a search warrant in the 700 block of Appleby Drive. The search resulted in the seizure of two long barrel firearms, a firearm silencer (prohibited device), ammunition and tools suitable for altering firearms.

A 31 year old man from Saskatoon was arrested and is now facing one criminal charge of Importing a Prohibited Device Into Canada and two criminal charges of Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.
