The Saskatoon Police Service would like to remind motorists to lock and remove valuables from their vehicles as we approach the holidays.
As the weather turns cooler, it becomes more tempting to warm vehicles up before heading out, however we remind residents to not leave their keys and vehicle unattended when doing so. Similarly, we also remind people to not leave anything of value in their vehicle, including garage door openers. The East Division is seeing a trend of thefts from vehicles associated to the Broadway corridor and along 8th Street East. While these are typically crimes of opportunity in regards to unlocked vehicles, in some cases we are receiving reports of damaged windows in order to gain entry.
Please remember to not leave your vehicle running and unattended, remove valuables from your vehicle (including garage door openers), and lock purchases in the trunk of your vehicle and keep them out of plain view for would-be thieves to act on crimes of opportunity.
