A man is facing charges after he was stopped by police early this morning and found to be prohibited from driving and operating a stolen vehicle.
At approximately 12:50 a.m., November 13, 2020, Patrol officers stopped a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of 33rd Street. As Police were attempting to obtain the drivers license and registration, he attempted to flee however his efforts were hampered by the slippery conditions as well as his male passenger who turned off the vehicle and removed the keys from the ignition. The driver was then taken into custody. Further investigation found that the driver had a court order that prohibited him from driving and also that the vehicle had been reported stolen from British Columbia.
The passengers, a man and woman, were found not have any involvement in the criminal activity.
The 37-year-old man is charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Driving While Prohibited. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants. (Court Info # 991145513).
