At approximately 5:35 p.m. today police responded to a shoplifting complaint in the 300 block of 33 St W.

A male and female were stopped for shoplifting by the Loss Prevention Officer on duty. The male suspect produced a hatchet and both fled.

Both suspects were located and arrested. The Loss Prevention Officer was not injured.

A 28 year old man from Alberta was charged with theft under $5000, assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public.

A 27 year old female from Alberta was charged with theft under $5000.
