Public Advisory - East Division Property Crime Initiative

Residents in areas of Saskatoon's east side will be hearing more this week about property crime and how to protect themselves from it. In an effort to address property crime incidents, members of the SPS East Division have launched a new initiative. While overall numbers have dropped for incidents including break-ins, theft of vehicles and willful damage or mischief, areas around 8th Street, Broadway and Clarence Avenue still have reports above the divisional average.

In addition to regular SPS beat duties, residents may notice a visible increase in the number of officers paying visits to businesses and conducting additional foot patrols over a wider area. They'll also be sharing information with residents about how to reduce their chances of victimization including; reporting suspicious activity to police immediately, ensuring homes, sheds and garages are locked and secure and removing valuables from vehicles.
