Update - Charges Laid - Traffic Restrictions - 1100 Block Avenue W North

Two men and a woman have been charged following a break-in and stand-off which lasted several hours yesterday.

Police received a report of the break and enter at approximately 9:45 a.m., March 1, 2021. It was also reported that there may be firearms inside the apartment in the 1100 block of Ave. W North. Shortly after officers arrived, four people exited the suite without incident. A 33 year old man remained inside and refused to come out. Members of the Tactical Support Unit and the Crisis Negotiation Team attended to the scene and attempted to communicate with the man for more than four hours. When he continued to refuse to exit the apartment less-lethal force was deployed into the apartment, allowing officers to make entry. At that time the male deployed pepper spray at the officers before he was taken into custody. No one was injured during the incident.

The man is now facing seven charges including; Assaulting a Peace Officer With a Weapon (x4), Unlawfully In a Dwelling and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace.

A 40 year old man and a 31 year old woman are facing charges of Unlawfully In A Dwelling. The woman is also facing a charge of Breach of Court Conditions.

The traffic restrictions in the 1100 block of Avenue W North have been lifted. 

At approximately 2:30 p.m., the male exited the suite and was taken into custody. The investigation is continuing.
