Two men were arrested last night after SPS received a report of an erratic driver.
At approximately 9:50 p.m., April 6, 2021, Saskatoon Police received a call about a grey Mercedes C300W being driven erratically northbound on Highway 11 near Vic Boulevard. The complainant stated that something was also thrown out of the car window.
Police located the suspect vehicle and deployed a tire deflation device, bringing the car to a stop on the Circle Drive bridge. Officers observed a suspect throw a package over the bridge guardrail, before fleeing again in the vehicle. It came to a stop in the parking lot of a shopping centre in the 10 block of Assiniboine Drive. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted and the two male occupants were taken into custody without incident. The Canine Unit located the package that had previously been discarded over the bridge. It was found to be a brick of cocaine weighing nearly 500g.
A 33-year-old Saskatoon man and a 30-year-old man from Dundurn, SK are charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking. The 33-year-old is also charged with Evade Police, Driving While Prohibited, Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking.
