As National Telecommunicators Week draws to a close, the Saskatoon Police Service wants to once again recognize Communications Section staff who answer the community’s calls for help, including those who have been recognized as the best in their profession.
SPS Special Constable Kathy Richards is this year’s Sask911 Telecommunicator of the Year. With more than 30 years of experience with the SPS, S/Cst Richards was nominated for her role in a critical incident earlier this year in which she was credited for being the calming voice to the victim of a stabbing.
C Platoon Communications was awarded the Sask911 Excellence in Team Work
Award for another critical call earlier this year which involved multitasking, perseverance, coordination, and acute attention.
The SPS invites the community to join us in congratulating C Platoon Communications and Special Constable Richards on their achievements.
“The Special Constables in Communications are the backbone to our community and our police service,” says Chief Troy Cooper. “Through their dedication and professionalism, they exemplify what it means to make a difference each and every day. We appreciate the work they do, and are proud of the recognition bestowed upon them during National Telecommunicators Week.”
