On April 17, 2021, at 7:38a.m., Saskatoon Police received a call to the 400blk Pendygrasse Rd of a male in a black Dodge Journey pointing a firearm at a female walking her dog.
Patrol officers arrived and checked the area but did not locate the vehicle. A licence plate was obtained and officers were able to determine an address of interest. At 7:56a.m., officers located the vehicle in the back alley in the 2900blk Preston Ave S with two male occupants inside. The vehicle immediately took off and officers did not pursue. The passenger of the vehicle was dropped off several blocks away and was taken into custody without incident. He was released a short time later as it was determined he had no involvement with the earlier incident on Pendygrasse Rd.
At 12:41p.m., patrol officers located the vehicle parked behind the residence in the 2900blk Preston Ave unoccupied. Officers did a door knock and asked for the owner of the vehicle to come and speak with them. The male suspect came to the door and immediately became confrontational with officers. He lifted his shirt and showed that he was wearing a bullet proof vest and also had numerous knives tucked into his waist band. An officer deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) and the male went to the ground. A female from within the residence exited and attempted to assist the suspect by pulling out the CEW probes. The female was able to interfere enough causing the CEW to be ineffective. The male suspect attempted to get up when a second officer deployed their CEW as well. The female tried again to remove the CEW probes but was arrested. Both individuals were taken into custody without further incident.
A 31 year old male is charged with evade police, dangerous driving, point firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, various other weapons charges, and a warrant for his arrest for sexual assault.
A 42 year old female is charged with obstruction.
Both will be held and brought before a Justice of the Peace on April 18, 2021.
The incident will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
