On April 19, 2021, the Saskatoon Police Service received information from the Regina Police Service regarding a vehicle whose occupants were believed to have discharged a firearm in Regina prior to travelling toward Saskatoon.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. the same day, officers observed the vehicle being driven in Saskatoon and attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 600 block of Douglas Crescent when the vehicle, a white Ford SUV, fled at a high rate of speed.
