Three people are in custody and facing charges after fleeing from a traffic stop earlier this morning.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., January 11, 2021, patrol officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on St. Lawrence Court, however the driver refused to stop and fled. Stop sticks were successfully deployed on Assiniboine Drive and officers observed the vehicle come to a stop in the 10 block of Kootenay Drive. When the vehicle stopped, the male driver fled on foot while the other two occupants were taken into custody. The SPS Air Support Unit located the driver and directed canine and patrol units to a garage in the 10 block of Churchill Drive where he had unlawfully entered and was attempting to hide. The suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of a canine unit, and then transported to SPS Detention.
Inside the vehicle, police located a sawed-off rifle, an imitation firearm, a conducted energy weapon, two knives with finger loops, bear spray, two machetes, seven cell phones and a large quantity of methamphetamine packaged for distribution.
The 23-year-old male driver is charged with; Evade Police, Driving While Prohibited, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Prohibited Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. (Court Info # 991150875).
A 30-year-old woman is charged with; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000 and Prohibited Possession of a Firearm. She was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
A 21-year-old woman is charged with; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000, and breach of court orders.
