Two people are facing a number of charges after refusing to stop for Police last night.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., May 5, 2021, a Canine officer observed a suspicious blue Jeep Compass at 35th Street West and Idylwyld Drive North. A traffic stop was conducted in the 100 block of 33rd Street West. The male driver provided Police with identification belonging to another person before fleeing the scene in the vehicle. Members of the Air Support Unit (ASU) informed Patrol officers that the suspect vehicle had stopped on 35th Street and four occupants fled into an alley. One person was located walking on Avenue I North and taken into custody without incident. ASU observed the three other occupants attempting to hide in a backyard in the 1300 block of Avenue H North. Upon Police arrival, the occupants began to flee. One female was arrested without further incident and a second was apprehended with the assistance of the Police Service Dog. The fourth suspect was arrested nearby. A 35-year-old female was transported to hospital for injuries caused by the dog bite.
The 35-year-old woman was found with an outstanding warrant for her arrest and was charged with Obstruction and Breach of Probation.
A 29-year-old man is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Fraudulent Personation. He was also found to be wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. The two other occupants were later released without charges.
