A man unlawfully at large and wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was arrested after an evade Police incident on the weekend.
On June 19, 2021 at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Saskatoon Police Service attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Dodge Charger travelling in the area of Dalmeny Road near 33rd Street West; the vehicle did not stop for Police and fled at a high rate of speed toward Highway 16. Police were successful in deploying a tire deflation device; however, the suspect vehicle did not stop and continued to be driven dangerously until it became stuck while crossing a ditch. At this time, officers arrested the driver and lone occupant without further incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a loaded sawed-off shotgun; both the weapon and vehicle were seized by Police. Multiple units from the SPS were involved including Patrol, Traffic, K9, Air Support, Guns & Gangs, and Tactical Support; the Saskatchewan RCMP also assisted.
A 36 year-old Saskatoon man is facing multiple weapons-related charges in addition to charges relating to the dangerous operation of a conveyance and evading Police; a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large was also executed at this time.
