One man is facing drug-impaired driving charges following an incident with Police early this morning.
At 2:30 a.m., June 23, 2021, members of the Bike Unit observed a white, Mazda3 on 22nd Street East and 5th Avenue North, disabled on a curb. As Police approached, a male driver was observed acting in an aggressive and erratic manner inside the vehicle, which was still in drive. He was safely removed from the vehicle by officers after attempting to flee. It was believed the driver was under the influence of an intoxicant and he was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services. On his person and inside the vehicle, Police located crack cocaine and carfentanyl.
A 25-year-old man is charged with Impaired Driving, Possession of Cocaine/Carfentanyl and Breach of Probation.
