A 16 year old female from Saskatoon is in custody and will be appearing at youth court tomorrow morning (July 19) on several criminal driving charges, after an incident that occurred today at 1130AM.
Police had received a complaint regarding an SUV driving into a backyard fence in the 400 block of Caldwell Cr. This complaint was followed by others about an erratic driver in the area.
Patrol officers located the suspect vehicle, a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe, nearby at McCormack Rd. and Neatby Cr. A traffic stop was initiated. The suspect vehicle pulled over for the marked police vehicle, before reversing into the front of the police vehicle. Other officers attended to the scene and the driver of the Tahoe was arrested for impaired driving. The collision with the police vehicle did not result in any injuries, minor damage was reported.
The investigation involved interviewing numerous witnesses and searching the surrounding area for damage. Damage caused by the impaired driver was found on two fences, a parked van, an uprooted tree, a downed lamp post and the police vehicle. Charges of impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol level over .08, dangerous driving and hit and run are being laid.
