SPS Air Support Unit Assists In Separate Investigations

The Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit was involved in assisting in the arrest of two individuals from separate investigations over the weekend.

At approximately 2:40 a.m., January 2, 2021, Patrol officers responded to an alarm at a restaurant in the 100 block of 33rd Street West. Upon police arrival, they located a door that had been pried open. The SPS Air Support Unit located and directed Patrol Units to a nearby backyard where the suspect was found in possession of a cash register and two crow bars. He was arrested without further incident. The 23-year-old is charged with Break and Enter, and Theft, and Possession of B&E Instruments. (Occ # 2021-882)

At approximately 2:00 a.m., January 3, 2021, patrol officers attempted a traffic stop in the area of Kingsmere Boulevard and Waterbury Road but the driver refused to stop. The Air Support Unit located the vehicle and watched as the driver abandoned it in the 100 block of Brookdale Crescent and attempted to flee on foot. The 37-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with Evade Police and Driving While Prohibited. He was also arrested on outstanding criminal code warrants. (Occ # 2021-1176)
