A 20 year old man is facing charges following a report of pointing a firearm at his family members that resulted in Police deploying a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW).

At approximately 3:26 p.m., on August 1, 2021, Police received a 911 call to a home in the 900 blk Ave J S. The responding officers located the male suspect in a garage who became confrontational and non compliant with police. An officer deployed a CEW successfully and the male was taken into custody without further incident. Officers located a loaded sawed off .22 calibre rifle. The male was treated at scene by Medavie Health Services and then transported to detention.

He is facing numerous firearms charges, weapon dangerous, threats to cause death, and several breaches of a probation order. He will be brought before a Justice of the Peace on August 2, 2021.

The incident will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
