Five people are facing charges following a firearms investigation by the Guns & Gangs Unit.
Investigators received information that drugs may be being sold from a home in the 1700 block of 2nd Avenue North and that the residents may be in possession of a firearm.
At approximately 7:45 a.m., January 19, 2020, Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a Buick Regal at Assiniboine Drive and Warman Road. One occupant was found to be wanted in regard to the investigation and subsequently arrested. He was found with numerous cell phones, a meth pipe and various identity documents, some of which were reported stolen. Inside the car, Police located a conducted energy weapon (CEW), a knife, a machete, a meat cleaver and open alcohol. The remaining occupants were also arrested and transported to Detention without incident. Upon being searched in Detention, one male was located in possession of fentanyl and another was found with over $1000 CAD.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit, a search warrant was executed at the residence in the 1700 block of 2nd Avenue North and four people were arrested. A rifle and ammunition were located, along with over 35 cannabis plants. Three occupants were later released without charges.
A 44-year-old man and a 48-year-old man are facing a number of charges including firearms-related offences, Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000, Possession of Fentanyl and Unlawful Cultivation of Cannabis Plants.
A 54-year-old man is charged with three weapons-related offences relating to the CEW.
A 24-year-old woman is charged with Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (x2), Carry a Concealed Weapon (x2) and Breach of Release.
A 31-year-old man is charged with Possession of Ammunition While Prohibited (x2).
