A 38 year old Alberta man is facing a number of charges following an incident in which the driver of a vehicle evaded police.
At approximately 11 p.m., August 18, 2021, patrol officers noticed a Nissan Pathfinder which was displaying the wrong license plate. They attempted a traffic stop however the driver refused to stop and fled. Members of the Air Support Unit were able to spot the vehicle from the air and a tire deflation device was successfully used. The driver then abandoned the vehicle in the 800 block of Avenue S North. With the assistance of ASU, patrol members along with the canine unit, were able to locate the man hiding in a backyard nearby.
The 38 year old male was taken into custody and received treatment for minor injuries consistent with a dog bite.
The man was wanted on three Canada-wide Criminal Code warrants and is now facing 10 charges including; Evade Police, Dangerous Driving, Driving While Prohibited and Obstruction.
