A 28-year-old woman has been charged in regards to a September 2021 collision that resulted in the death of a nine-year-old girl.
Following initial toxicology results and an opinion from Crown Prosecutors, Saskatoon Police investigators have charged the driver with Impaired Operation While Exceeding the Prescribed Blood-Drug Concentration of THC Causing Death under the Criminal Code of Canada (Section 320.14(3) and Section 320.21).
The driver was taken into custody this morning. Details on her court appearance will be provided when available.
This incident remains under investigation.

The SPS Traffic Section's Collision Analyst Unit continues to investigate the fatal collision that occurred on September 9, 2021 and involved a nine year old girl on a scooter and a Ford pickup truck driven by a 27 year old woman. The unit is analyzing data collected from the scene to determine what factors existed to cause the collision,.
Traffic collision investigations are highly specialized and involve a variety of investigative techniques including reconstruction, witness interviews and forensic laboratory testing. The utilization of science can mean a lengthy investigation. At this time the Traffic Section is not able to provide a timeline as to when a conclusion will be reached.
Updates will be provided when information becomes available.

The traffic restrictions have been lifted. Police would like to thank the public for avoiding the area while the investigation continued.

The nine year old female victim of a traffic collision was pronounced deceased after arriving at hospital this morning.
Members of the Collision Analyst Unit remain at the scene of the collision which involved a truck and the youth who was on a scooter at the time. Traffic restrictions are expected to remain in place through the commute after work today. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Saskatoon Police are on the scene of a collision involving a youth on a scooter and a vehicle in the 600 block of 33rd Street West. Motorists are asked to avoid the area as both directions of travel will be restricted from Avenues F through H.
The collision occurred at approximately 9 a.m. The female victim has been transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services with what are beleived to be serious injuries.
