A man charged in a 2020 homicide that was arrested while attempting to cross the border into the United States in January, has been returned to Canada.
Afrah ALI arrived in Saskatoon yesterday and appeared in court this morning on his charges of Second Degree Murder. (Court Info # 991137309).
The SPS would like to thank the agencies that assisted in returning the accused to Canada: Canadian Border Services Agency, RCMP Air Services and Provost, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice, and the U.S. authorities.
The subject of a Canada-wide warrant in regards to a 2020 homicide in Saskatoon, was arrested by the United States Border Patrol while attempting to cross into the U.S. unlawfully on January 23, 2021.
The Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section is working with authorities in an effort to have him returned to Saskatoon.

Saskatoon Police are requesting public assistance in locating a man believed to be responsible for the city’s most recent homicide investigation.
As a result of the investigation to date Afrah ALI, DOB 1988/05/08 is now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second degree murder. Investigators believe he may be in the Saskatoon area, but is known to have associations to Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa.
Afrah ALI is described as 189 cm (6'3") tall and weighs 116 kg (256 lbs). He is believed to armed and should not be approached . Anyone with information is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.
ALI is wanted in connection with the August 21st, 2020 shooting and murder of 30 year old Logan Nayneecassum at restaurant / pub located in the 200 block of Slimmon Road, Saskatoon.
Saskatoon residents who may have information regarding the whereabouts of Afrah ALI or this homicide are asked to call the Saskatoon Police at 306-975-8300 and ask to speak with an investigator in Major Crime or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
