On Dec. 18 at 8:33pm, Saskatoon Police received a complaint of a family disturbance at an apartment in the 3800 block of Luther Pl. Patrol officers attended to the call approximately 10 minutes later with information that a female at the address was either intoxicated on alcohol or high on drugs and had assaulted a child. The caller from the apartment had stayed on the phone with police call-takers and was heard to be involved in a struggle.

Arriving officers found the door to the apartment locked and had to force entry to the apartment. Two females were located in the apartment, still actively involved in a physical struggle. An officer at scene deployed their conducted energy weapon against one of the females. The struggle ended and the females were separated.

Based on further investigation, officers have taken a 32 year old female into custody. This female is facing charges for assaulting the other female at the apartment.

A 59 year old female received minor injuries from the CEW deployment and was transported to hospital for examination. This female was determined to be the initial caller. She is not facing any charges.

The CEW deployment will be reviewed as per use of force policy.
