Homicide Investigation - 200 Block Wakaw Place

The 34-year-old male suspect in this case has been charged with one count of Second Degree Murder and one count of Attempted Murder.

He will make his first court appearance today, January 7, 2020, via video.

The Saskatoon Police would like to clarify that the 34-year-old man taken into custody was also the recipient of the CEW deployment. The man transported to hospital is 65-years-old. The woman found deceased is 60-years-old.

The investigation is ongoing.  

The Saskatoon Police Service is currently involved in a homicide investigation.

Just after 2:00 AM this morning ( Jan. 6th), Patrol officers responded to a disturbance at a home in the 200 block of Wakaw Place. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man who was subsequently apprehended after a conductive energy weapon (CEW) was deployed. Officers found a deceased adult female in the residence. An adult male resident was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A 34 year old Saskatoon man is in custody. Detectives from the SPS Major Crime Section and the Forensic Identification Section are continuing with the investigation.

The incident is not random in nature and there is no threat to the public.
